Music from the Inside Out
1:00pm – 4:00pm
(For Ages 4-12; no previous experience required)
We play music on the outside, but what happens on the inside? Through movement and singing, students will engage with music in fun and new ways to become better musicians in this camp. Students will have classes that use improvised movement, singing, and group interaction, to learn to express music in a way that develops the inner artist. Using teaching techniques developed by the Swiss educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, this unique and exciting method of teaching musicianship is used in music conservatories around the world, including the Juilliard Conservatory, to improve the playing of pianists, guitarists, violinists, singers and more. You do not want to miss this chance for musical as well as social development in this joyful setting.
