Potential Teachers

Georgia Sears Professional Photo-2Thank you for your interest in Orpheus Academy of Music, please scroll down for the latest job openings and application process.  We are a classical music academy in Northwest Austin with a unique vision of how to create the most effective and enjoyable learning environment for both our students and our teachers. We have been open for over nine years, and with over 300 students and 15 teachers, we are one of the fastest growing music schools in town. That growth has been made possible through the incredibly high quality of instruction our teachers bring to our academy, and it is for this reason that we have always placed teacher satisfaction as our number priority. We seek to provide a teaching environment that is supportive in every way:

  • A terrific desk staff
  • Professional sound proofing
  • Quality instruments
  • Dozens of specialized teaching tools
  • A library of teaching materials including access to our online catalog of folk songs for teaching: Kodalysongweb.net
  • Opportunity to collaborate with other expert teachers
  • No schedule hassles
  • No collections
  • You are paid whether or not the student comes to the lesson
  • A huge array of performance opportunities for your students.

However, it is our vision of shared learning and growth among the teachers that has made Orpheus a truly unique teaching environment. Below are quotes from several of our current and former teachers regarding their experience teaching at Orpheus.

“Teaching here at Orpheus has changed my life. I have learned so much about myself and my teaching! It has been a complete honor to work for you!”
-Abigail Albaugh, violin

“Orpheus is the only school I’ve worked at that has enabled me to grow as an educator due to the environment created to share and explore new ideas.”
-Brian Grothues, piano

“I enjoy the community atmosphere at Orpheus that I don’t get from teaching at my private studio at home. Here we have an open forum for new ideas, discussions, and collaborations. Also, Klondike & Wendy do a great job at emphasizing a uniquely varied music education, which translates into more inspired students and active teachers.”
-Seetha Shivaswami, flute

“Orpheus provides a learning community with supportive and knowledgeable parents, well-supported and relaxed teachers who are focused on excellence. Bookkeeping is handled by staff so that teachers are free to focus their energy on students and on their own growth as a teacher. An oasis of thoughtful pedagogy and opportunities for students, Orpheus has allowed me to experience the fulfillment in my teaching that was missing for me in years of teaching from a private home studio.

-Elise Winters, violin
