Doctorate of Music, Piano Performance
Valeria Díaz has won top prizes in many Piano Competitions as the Young Artists Competition in Lima Peru, Margaret Guttmann Piano Competition in Atlanta, Southeastern Piano Competition in North Carolina, MTNA State Competition in South Carolina, and Texas Tech Concerto Competition. Most recently in June, she has presented her lecture recital topic on “The unique mix of Peruvian folk elements with Western techniques of the 20th-Century” at the Texas Music Teachers Association conference in Dallas. She started her music studies in the Lima’s National Conservatory of Music and completed her Bachelor’s degree at College of Charleston, SC. Díaz has appeared as soloist several times with the Lima Symphonic Orchestra, Bela Bartok’s Symphonic Orchestra in Peru, Perugia’s Chamber Orchestra and Valtidone Music Festival in Italy. She holds a Master’s Degree in Music from University of Florida and Doctor’s degree in Piano Pedagogy from Texas Tech University.
