About Orpheus Academy
Founded in 2003, Orpheus Academy of Music has been providing exceptional music lessons and group classes on guitar, piano, violin and voice to adults and children of all ages. Our programs help children learn the value of music in a creative, positive and nurturing atmosphere that inspires students to reach their fullest potential. Students learn to understand the importance of focus and dedication to practice while pursuing their individual musical interests and expressing themselves through music. We have years of experience in guiding people within North Austin along their musical journey and our students’ achievements such as performing at Carnegie Hall, releasing CD’s, and performing all over Austin have been recognized in The Austin American Statesman, KVUE, Fox 7, Austin Family, West Austin News, Norwalk Hour, News Times Online and many more. Austin is an amazing city to study music, whether you just want to have fun or pursue music to the highest levels. As the “Live Music Capital of the World” Austin provides a terrific source of teachers and performance venues for students and we pride ourselves on finding the best of both for our students. In October of 2018 over 500 students and 25 faculty will perform at the One World Theatre to celebrate our 15th anniversary.

KXAN’s Studio 512 interviewed Dr. Klondike Steadman and two Orpheus Academy of Music students about their preparations for Carnegie Hall.

Orpheus Academy of Music was founded by Klondike Steadman and his wife Wendy Kuo. Orpheus is a leader in music curricula and our Adventures Through Sound methods are presented regularly at National Conferences and used around the country. Our approach is to build on each students’ strengths through a Sound-to-Symbol approach, using a combination the Kodaly and Dalcroze Eurythmics, as well as traditional methodology to teaching so that every student can have a joyful and effective experience learning music.
We offer music lessons for today’s generation and strive to make sure that your learning experience is customized to your preferences. Learn to play your favorite songs on the guitar, join an ensemble, write your own music or study the classics – the choice is yours! Our faculty make it a priority to know every student on a personal level so they can understand their needs and make the musical journey rewarding and unique to them.
