Mika Syms

Bachelor of Music, Cello

Mika Syms is a cellist and educator from Austin, Texas! She began playing the cello in 2014 with the Kealing Middle School Orchestra, and has kept with it ever since!

​She is an alumni of Austin Soundwaves, having joined the Draylen Mason Fellows Program in 2020. This spring, she will complete a Music Education degree through the Sarah & Ernest Butler School of Music at UT Austin where she studies under Professor Bion Tsang.

During the school year she teaches various string classes through the UT String Project, and maintains her own private studio.

​When she’s not playing music, Mika enjoys playing Stardew Valley, listening to punk rock, and collecting plants!
