Master of Music, Viola Performance
Otto Pereira, has a viola bachelor’s degree from the studio of Glêsse Collet at the University of Brasilia, and graduated from University of Wyoming with a Masters of Music degree. He has been working in string music education for many years.
He worked as violin and viola instructor at the String Project of the University of Brasília (Brazil), has taught "Centro Suzuki de Brasília" where he was also the main arranger of music. He has also worked in the string sector of "Music For Children" at the University of Brasília where each year the students record a CD of ensemble music arranged by Otto Pereira. These ensemble pieces included strings, flutes, recorders and piano arrangements. Otto has trained extensively in the Suzuki method in Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Chicago, and also has given a workshop in
BetelKyrkans Musikskola, Örebro - Sweden.
He played in the “Orquestra Filarmônica de Brasília”, University of Brasilia String Orchestra, and as viola principal at the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra. He also worked as supervisor assistant at UW String Project. Otto has taught Suzuki Music Camps in Brasilia – Brazil, and in the Music Summer Camp at the University of Wyoming. He received the Second Prize of the Douglas B. Reeves UW Chamber Orchestra Composition competition, which was his first entry in a contest of this type.
