Xun XuMaster of Music, Violin PerformanceXun is a violinist originally from China. He served as a Patricia Pierce Visiting Artist in Residence at South Dakota State University and was awarded First Prize and the Outstanding Musicality Special Prize at the 2023 Bach International Music Competition. He was also the Violin Fellow artist of the Boulder Bach Festival. In addition, he was the First Violin of the Ravnan String Quartet, funded by Ms. Yi Xue. Before coming to the US, he held the concertmaster at the China Youth Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and a section violinist at the Peking Sinfonietta Orchestra in Beijing, China.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Xun has performed in numerous concert halls in China, the United States, and Canada. He recently held a successful solo recital with his collaborative pianist, Helena Aung, as an Artist in Residence at South Dakota State University and performed Mozart Violin Concerto No.5 in A Majoras Guest Artist with the UNL Campus Orchestra. He has also been invited to serve as the concertmaster for the world premiere of the opera "The Highest Yellow," for the musical "She Loves Me," and for the world premiere of the musical "Our Town." Apart from his performance experience, Xun has contributed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he directed the Campus Orchestra for non-major students and taught violin lessons to undergraduate students under the supervision of Professor Neely. Xun is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, having completed his Master of Music in Violin Performance there as well. Xun earned a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance at the China Conservatory of Music and had graduate study at Western Michigan University. |
