Shane AndersonDoctor of Music Arts, Piano Performance
After an extensive time away from our beloved city in which he taught and performed to great acclaim, in 2019, Dr. Anderson returned to Austin, where he began his teaching career as a graduate student studying piano with Nancy Garrett at The University of Texas. His pedagogical study with Martha Hilley, Sophia Gilmson and Amanda Vick Lethco strongly influenced his positive and encouraging teaching style.
As a student of Nelita True at the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Anderson developed an interest in contemporary piano music and has performed and presented seminars on the subject in Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali, Indonesia. He has also served as pianist for the Victoria and Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestras and has participated in hundreds of performances as a collaborative pianist in Texas and Louisiana. The use of technology to enhance teaching is of particular interest to Dr. Anderson. He developed one of the first Piano Classes delivered fully online and is always looking for ways to improve his teaching through the use of technology. His teaching experience includes over 20 years as a college professor at Texas A&M University at both the Kingsville and Corpus Christi campuses, as well as Nicholls State University in Louisiana. He currently is Associate Professor of Piano at Austin Community College. |
