Student Resources
Adventures Through SoundVideos and audio recordings give students at-home reinforcement of key concepts taught and practiced during private lessons and group classes. These videos go hand-in-hand with our Adventures Through Sound books (written by Orpheus teachers) so that students can watch, listen, and play along to the songs they are learning. The videos are also great preparation for the Musical Journey Test at the end of each semester.

Tips for the best Zoom qualityQuality audio is vital to the success of your online zoom lessons, so we recommend using the settings to turn on 'original sound'. In addition, the option to 'suppress background noise' should be turned off. Check out our quick guide and feel free to contact your teacher or the front desk if you're having any trouble.

Musical Journey Project IdeasStudents stay on track with goals with the Musical Journey. Great musicians are not only technically skilled, but creative, and expressive! This is why, unlike other programs, the Musical Journey values life skills like creativity and independence with Musical Journey Projects chosen by the student. Whether it's a Home Concert, or recording an album, students are highly motivated because the project is important to them. Our list of Project ideas is a jumping off point to help you choose a project that is appropriate to the student's level, however each student brings their own creativity to each project they complete. If this list looks intimidating, don't worry, your teacher will guide you through the entire process and will help you break it down into manageable goals we call “Milestones.” Ask your teacher about getting started on a Musical Journey Project.

Musical Journey Test PrepThe Musical Journey test is an opportunity for students to receive valuable feedback from highly qualified outside judges. The test is administered twice a year in the Spring and Fall semesters. Students will prepare for the Musical Journey test in their private lessons and will approach the test with confidence because they will have already mastered all of the concepts that will be covered. The test starts at Level 1 and goes up to Level 8. Each level increases the student's ability to perform with confidence, achieve technical mastery, and understand Musicianship concepts. Here are some examples for what to expect in the Musical Journey Musicianship test for each level.
