The Best Music Jobs in Austin, TX
There are a number of music teacher jobs in Austin TX, but Orpheus is a step above. Working at Orpheus Academy of Music means being supported at every level. That includes training, mentorship, support from other faculty, and support from administrators. Teaching at Orpheus is much different than teaching private lessons above a music shop: we care about the development and success of our teachers as much as our students.
All new teachers will be given free training and mentorship as part of their hiring process. This training will give you the skills to teach with Kodaly and Eurythmics based philosophies. You will be comfortable incorporating singing and movement into your music lessons, and will have confidence teaching students as young as four years old. This training and curriculum is part of what makes Orpheus so unique.
On top of this, you are mentored by one of our directors or senior instructors. These teachers are pillars of the community, and will do everything they can to help you succeed. You will also work with other teachers through workshops, meetings, performances, and events!
Orpheus also provides a positive teaching experience outside of professional development and support. This includes 401k matching, a library of teaching materials which includes an online catalog, no scheduling hassles, no collections, and being paid whether or not your student comes to the lesson. Students, parents, and teachers are always on the same page, and you are completely supported by our wonderful front desk staff.
We are the fastest growing music community in Austin, Texas. There are over 800 students enrolled at our two locations, one of which is a new state-of-the-art facility in Cedar Park. This facility was purpose built, and has been outfitted with instruments, specialized teaching tools, and live-sound equipment. These facilities are open to teachers outside of their teaching hours.
Our teachers are what makes Orpheus so great. We pride ourselves on the fact that every teacher holds multiple degrees in music, and are experienced in performing music. Additionally, teachers are constantly looking to collaborate with each other. All of this contributes to a sense of comradery and community which you won’t find at other schools.

Quotes from current and former teachers:
Orpheus is the only school I’ve worked at that has enabled me to grow as an educator due to the environment created to share and explore new ideas.” Orpheus provides a learning community with supportive and knowledgeable parents, well-supported and relaxed teachers who are focused on excellence. Bookkeeping is handled by staff so that teachers are free to focus their energy on students and on their own growth as a teacher. An oasis of thoughtful pedagogy and opportunities for students, Orpheus has allowed me to experience the fulfillment in my teaching that was missing for me in years of teaching from a private home studio. Teaching here at Orpheus has changed my life. I have learned so much about myself and my teaching! It has been a complete honor to work for you!” |
Teaching at Orpheus has helped me more than I can say. I have learned to be a better teacher, a better musician, and a better colleague. I’ve made friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The directors have also supported me to reach my own professional goals. All of my students love coming to lessons and group classes, and I can focus on just that thanks to our great front desk staff. |
