Megan BarhamMaster of Music, Voice Performance
Megan is a soprano from Boulder, Colorado who has a versatile performance background. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Voice Performance from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas; and her Master of Music in Voice Performance from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
During her college career, Ms. Barham had a very active performance life. Some of her favorite roles include Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas. She also made appearances in Jazz and Musical theater scenes. Because of Ms. Barham’s background in ballet, tap, jazz, and partner dancing, she was given a graduate assistant position as choreographer, and she choreographed entire scenes in her school’s production of The Pirates of Penzance. Ms. Barham is an enthusiastic learner, and has attended programs to expand her knowledge of opera. She has attended programs such as the Baroque Opera Workshop, where she received coaching from Baroque music and dance experts such as Julianne Baird and Dorothy Olsen. She also attended the Austrian American Mozart Academy where she performed as Bastienne in Bastien und Bastienne in Salzburg, Austria. Ms. Barham has worked extensively with children both in singing and movement groups and in private voice lessons. Always emphasizing healthy voice production, Ms. Barham seeks to teach her students in creative and engaging ways. Now residing in Austin, Texas, Ms. Barham teaches and performs locally in ensembles such as Austin Cantorum and The Gilbert and Sullivan Society. |
