Master of Music, Music Theory
Claudia Ferguson is a classically trained violin teacher in the Suzuki tradition. She began the violin at age 2 and credits her parents and teachers with supporting her love of music as a child.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Ithaca College where she studied with Linda Case. She received a Master of Music in Music Theory from Indiana University where she was an Associate Instructor of Music Theory. She has completed three levels of Suzuki Teacher Training, additional training in Pre-Twinkle and technique, and three levels of Kodaly Training.
She feels she learns as much from her students as they learn from her. She enjoys teaching all students from beginners of all ages through advanced students preparing for auditions. She focuses on teaching students to play violin with no pain, developing the ear, reading music, and connecting with the creative self.
Claudia is on the staff of the Orpheus Music Academy in Austin as well as Texas Lutheran University’s Community Music Academy in Seguin. She plays violin in the Mid-Texas Symphony and the Victoria Symphony among others.
