Composing for Short Film—In partnership with the Austin Film Society

Students will learn to create music that brings the drama on screen to life! Orpheus Academy is partnering with the Austin Film Society to create a unique experience for student composers and filmmakers!

Each student will choose from several short films created by student filmmakers from the AFS After-School Film Club, and Summer Camp programs. Students will be grouped by age and ability and will work together to write and perform original music inspired by the student films. Composers from the Austin community will guide them to develop skills every great composer needs such as: how to make memorable melodies, how to harmonize, and how to write music to express musical ideas.

Students who register for the July 6–10 camp at Orpheus have the unique opportunity to participate in AFS' Spies and Heroes camp so that they can make the films at AFS, and bring them to Orpheus to compose the original score!
