Gloria LemusMaster of Music, Piano Performance and Pedagogy
Pianist Gloria Lemus, born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, began her music studies at the Victoriano López School of Music. While in Honduras, Gloria began her teaching career at the Victoriano López and at the Conservatorio Sampedrano de las Artes as a private teacher for students of various ages.
After moving to the US in 2015, she received her Bachelor in Piano Performance from Valdosta State University, under Dr. Lyle Indergaard and Ms. Maila Springfield. Here she was part of the musicians for the Peach State Summer Theater company for two consecutive summers as well as having her private studio. In her last year, Gloria organized a one-week masterclass and concert activities featuring assistant professor Dr. Joshua Pifer (piano), with the music students in Honduras creating a bridge between Valdosta State and her country. She continued her education and received her Masters in Music with emphasis in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Ohio University, studying with Dr. Emely Phelps and Dr. Christopher Fisher. While in Ohio, Gloria served as a collaborative pianist, group piano instructor for undergraduate music majors, as a private instructor for the Athens Community Music School, an active member and communications liaison for the OU MTNA collegiate chapter and also became an apprentice as a piano tuner. Gloria has participated in music festivals in Honduras and performed in masterclasses with international pianists such as Ian Hobson, Orion Weiss, Dario Ntaca, among others. She currently resides in Austin, Texas and enjoys her free time by reading and exploring coffee shops. |
