Jenny PeñaBachelors of Music Education, Texas Certified EC-12Jenny Peña has received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio in May 2017. While at UTSA, she enjoyed many educational opportunities that were presented to her such as a master class with Rachel Podger and private lessons with the many San Antonio Symphony musicians on faculty. She has also received training in Dalcroze, Orff, and Suzuki.
She has an array of experience in various types of music ensembles from classical, mariachi, and jazz. She has participated in local San Antonio orchestras’ such as the South Texas Symphonic Orchestra, being a pit musician at the Woodlawn Theater, performing violin with Mariachi Los Arrieros while sharing the stage with the world-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, and playing various venues with Duo Peña (a guitar a violin duo she has with her husband, Johnny Peña). She has enjoyed teaching students for the past 15 years through private lessons, group lessons with the UTSA String Project, 5thgrade strings, and elementary music as a full-time teacher. She is currently working on her master’s degree in music education at UTSA and is a full-time mom to her son, Desmond. On her free time, she enjoys doing craft projects such as crocheting, catching up with her favorite TV shows, and jewelry making. Jenny is fluent in English and Spanish. |
