Michael Creighton MoenchDoctor of EthnomusicologyMichael Creighton Moench (call him Creighton) is a performer, educator and scholar of the world's music. He earned his PhD in ethnomusicology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020, and has published an undergraduate textbook through Kendall & Hunt on the history of rock and roll and related popular music genres.
Creighton is a vocalist and muti-instrumentalist who has sung and played keyboard, guitar, saxophone, clarinet and bass with various local bands, choirs, university ensembles and other performing groups such as the University of Texas Hispanic Caribbean Ensemble, Collegium Musicum, Bereket (Traditional Middle Eastern Music Ensemble), Discotex and Eraser Studios. He is an enthusiast of musical theater and has performed in leading roles in several productions in the central texas area at theaters such as the Georgetown Palace Theatre, Zilker Hillside Productions, City Theatre Austin, and the Public Theatre of San Antonio (formerly San Pedro Playhouse). He is passionate about the importance of music as a vital part of social life, world culture and human wellbeing. |
