Sara BravoMasters of Music, Cello PerformanceOriginally from La Paz, Bolivia, Sara began studying the violin at the age of 7 with her mother as her teacher. A couple of years later, while studying in the Bolivian National Conservatory, she fell in love with the darker, beautiful sound of the cello and chose it as her primary instrument following the Suzuki method. Throughout her high school years she participated in multiple music festivals in the U.S., and then moved to Texas for college. She received her Bachelor’s of Music from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, her Master’s from The University of Texas at Austin, and the prestigious Performance Diploma from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
During her career, Sara has freelanced as a professional studio musician, played numerous performances and recitals, sang lead in a Latin jazz band, and taught master-classes as well as group and private music lessons. In addition to classical music, Sara also enjoys playing and listening to many genres from rock, jazz, pop, folk, and Latin, to lo-fi and electronic music. Teaching style: Encouraging, patient, playful. Understanding of each student’s unique learning style and lifestyle. Caring and helpful, experienced in helping parents understand how to encourage healthy musical habits for their kids. Energetic teaching, with a focus on developing deep inner musicianship that allows the student to easily flow with their instrument. |
