Beth Scarborough, Bachelor's of Music, Piano
Born in California, but a Texan since age 6, Elizabeth [Beth] Scarborough began her formal music training at age 7. She has been a private piano teacher for over 30 years. Beth completed a degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor while also having the opportunity to teach piano lessons at their Conservatory of Music. She performed with the Temple Symphony Orchestra during this time and performed throughout Central Texas at both church and university events. While pursuing a Master’s degree at Baylor University, Beth was awarded a Teaching Fellowship and gained experience teaching college students and Kindermusik classes. Studying piano performance with the Artist-in-Residence, Krassimira Jordan, Beth was invited to spend a summer in Vienna, Austria performing with seven other graduate students. Educational trips to Salzburg and Germany expanded her knowledge of composers from the area. A favorite memory of hers was the Sound of Music bicycle tour with everyone singing as they toured. Beth also had the privilege to further develop her love for piano with professor Jane Abbott-Kirk at Baylor.
In addition to collegiate study, Beth pursued a Music Education teacher certification and taught elementary music, middle school choir, and high school choir at New Braunfels Christian Academy for several years. She has also served as a church pianist for over 30 years at 2 churches in Belton and one in New Braunfels. Her resume also includes being a pianist for over 200 weddings and special events. She loves sharing her joy of music with others, and desires to instill that same passion for music with her piano students.
We are thankful for the years of musical experience that Beth brings to Orpheus Academy of Music!
