Wyatt TurnerMaster of Music, Guitar PerformanceWyatt began playing guitar at the age of 8 in his hometown of Rolla, ND. After his beginning guitar teacher left the area a few years later, he began to teach himself, with a large emphasis on rock and heavy metal. After high school, Wyatt attended the University of North Dakota, where he discovered jazz and classical guitar. During his time at UND, he studied under Thomas Anderson for classical guitar and professors Kris Eylands and Mike Blake for jazz instruction. Following his bachelor’s degree in music performance, Wyatt attended graduate school and obtained his master’s degree in guitar performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, with David Tanenbaum.
Wyatt has participated in classical guitar master classes with Michael Chapdelaine and David Leisner, as well as a blues guitar master class from Kelly Richey. Wyatt has also participated in regular ensemble coachings under Marc Teicholz, Larry Ferrara, and Dusan Bogdanovic. As a guitar instructor, Wyatt has enjoyed teaching students of all ages, in a variety of genres, including rock, blues, metal, jazz, and classical, and he looks forward to continuing to bring these styles of music into his students’ lives. |
