Watch on YouTube Audrey T.“Audrey has been such a delightful student to teach! She loves her violin and it shows in everything she plays. I am especially impressed by how she memorizes all her new pieces almost immediately. Above all, Audrey is a hard worker who tackles every new challenge with her brains and with practice. Such an important skill to have in life! Audrey is also lucky in having a very supportive mom who comes to every lesson and who also loves to play piano with Audrey. Audrey, please keep making beautiful music with an open mind and heart!” Ms. Maria “About a year ago, Audrey heard that a classmate was learning violin, and it sounded interesting enough that she wanted to learn, too. Even though the beginning was challenging with trying to wrestle her fingers to be in the right position, Ms. Maria was patient, positive, and fun during lessons. Audrey started to learn that she could learn hard things, and now she enjoys figuring out how to play her favorite music like ‘Highlands’ by ear.” Audrey’s Mother Ava S.
Lucas S.“Lucas has been a great student since the day he started piano lessons almost two years ago. He has grown into an incredibly musical pianist and a master at connecting music theory with his pieces; his love for music is evident in every performance! His lessons are always a highlight at the end of the day and I'm always excited to see him push through difficulties or busy times. I'm very proud and excited to nominate him as student of the month!” Ms. Gloria “Thank you! I like music because it’s very interesting and it challenges me to work harder. It makes me be creative and think. I also have so much fun at Orpheus and I think Ms. Gloria is a great teacher because she knows me and she challenges me by always making learning about music new, enjoyable, and different!” Lucas S. Wiley T.“Wiley has been really motivated since the last Spring semester. He has practiced very regularly with high quality every week. He finished his Level 3 final project and achieved his trophy at the end of the Spring semester. I am really happy to see his growth and ownership of his musical journey.” Ms. Jae-Eun “Wiley loves playing piano. He has always enjoyed just sitting down and playing around with melodies, rhythms, and harmonies but recently also discovered a “groove” for more disciplined practice of his assigned exercises and pieces. And it shows in his abilities! It also helps that he absolutely loves Jae-Eun. Beyond being one of the kindest people I know, I think she is striking a great balance between the discipline needed for technical progress and the freedom to continue exploring and deepening his his love of musical expression.” Wiley’s Mother In this video, John would like to share with you his favorite songs as well as the beautiful accompanying artworks that he created!
We are very pleased with Maddie's achievement and improvement throughout this process. She learned to be more patient yet musical through this journey. We are so excited to see what Maddie will achieve next! Way to go, Maddie!
Aaron H.I started playing piano because Orpheus came to my school, but also because my older brother plays piano at Orpheus. Mr. Gordon has been my piano teacher for all 4 years of my time here. I give him 5/5 stars. While I'm learning my pieces, my favorite hobby is to play them as fast as possible. My favorite composer so far is Schumann, but recently I've also been enjoying Chopin. I'm looking forward to playing more of his Mazurkas and Waltzes over the summer. - Aaron H. I nominate Aaron Howard. Aaron is an amazing student: quick, thorough and persistent. It’s clear that he loves music (like the rest of his family). He is becoming quite the pianist! - Mr. Gordon Abby D.My name is Abby Daubert and I have been playing the flute for around 4 years now. The flute is such an amazing instrument, and with the help of Ms. Debra, I have not only been able to play songs, but play songs with feeling. I am very thankful to have Ms. Debra as a flute teacher and really appreciated the freedom she gives me with song choices. - Abby D. It is a delight to present Abby Daubert as Student of the Month. Abby’s Monday flute lesson always starts my week off on a happy note. She continues to impress me with the dedication she has to all of her artistic endeavors - dance, musical theatre and her flute studies. In just the past six months, Abby premiered a flute and piano duet with her fellow Orpheus friend, Tessa, starred as the Genie in an amazing production of Aladdin and completed her Level 4 Musical Journey project. Congratulations, Abby!! - Ms. Debra You can check out her Album “Flute Loops” here: https://www.bandlab.com/orpheusacademy/albums/59b9b601-edd7-ed11-9f73-0022484437ba Isha P.Thank you so much for nominating Isha as the Student of the Month. I would like to thank my teachers and parents for their support and coaching. I love singing and hope that it will always be a part of my life. - Catherine H. I nominate Catherine (Cathy/Catt) Haynes as student of the month. She always has a positive attitude at our lessons! She practices with intention, as well as focuses during our lessons. She communicates what goals she met during the week and any questions. She recently had a beautiful collaboration where she sang "Santa Lucia" with pianist Vanessa Kim for the spring Friendship Concert. She has also done several performance classes and Musical Journey levels 1 and 2 concerts. She has recently started to study piano as well. Congratulations Catt! - Ms. Skye Moukthika N.I’m so happy to have been nominated! Orpheus has an amazing environment to learn and laugh and I am so grateful that I get to be a part of it! Matt was able to adapt to an impromptu change in a recital and still gave a great performance. Keep up the awesome work! - Mr. Jeremy Sofia M.Thank you, Ms. Joanna, for nominating me! Music is my happy place, and I have fun in our Friday lessons singing and playing piano duets with you. I am so lucky to get to learn from you. - Sofia M. Sofia is a hard working, determined, and intelligent student. She shows me her love of music by eagerly over-preparing the songs we’ve learned together in her lesson, adding cool ostinatos and modulations to pieces like Los Pollitos and Alouette. She also loves to sing while she plays, and as a voice and piano teacher that brings me lots of joy! Thanks for being such a joy to work with, Sofia. Sending positive vibes to you and your family! - Ms. Joanna
