Students of the Month - July 2019

Orpheus students are always engaged in some form of group music making. Whether it's in a group class, a special ensemble class, or in preparation for one of our Friendship Concerts, making music with your friends is rewarding and fun. As you can imagine, we spend a lot of time thinking about the best ways to pair up different instruments to not only make beautiful music, but new challenges for our students. That's why this month we're honoring two of our string students. The guitar and violin might not be one of the first pairings you think of, but this match up is both unique and beautiful! Congratulations Rania, and Natalia, we can't wait to hear more of your awesome music! 

I love the violin!  It’s a lot of fun and the strings make nice sounds.  Ms. Raquel is very nice and teaches me new things that I like.  She always says ‘great job Rania’ when I do well. I like practicing the violin with my cousin on FaceTime.  I hope I can play as well as her and then like Ms. Raquel one day. My teacher and Orpheus Academy are the best!

Rania is an outstanding student. She always comes to her lesson with a smile, an excitement for learning, and a dedication for going above and beyond. During the week, with her parents help,  Rania pays close attention to details and makes sure that her daily practice is accurate and of the utmost quality. Her dedication and enthusiasm at 4 years old are an inspiration for me. It has been a true pleasure to work with her.

I am happy and thankful to be Orpheus’s student of the month. I have learned so much and had so much fun in my lessons with Mr. Brendon. I’m going to miss having him as my teacher so much, but I’m also happy for him that he gets to go back to being a student and learning himself.  Thank you for sharing your love of guitar with me.

Natalia exemplifies diligence, focus, curiosity and passion - which any teacher would say are four qualities we always find in our best students.  Teaching Natalia has been my pleasure entirely. I can only speak to how fun and gratifying it is to help a young person who already has an artistic view of the world, become a finer musician who appreciates the process of learning and works harder with each lesson.
